![]() ![]() Medium ships are still nimble, can’t dodge everything forever but can easily brawl for a time, I love the Interceptor and Sentinel. Light ships like Vanguard can be extremely nimble and dodge everything until they spend too long and get caught. ![]() You can’t brawl close range as a Scout or a Bomber for example. I did but that’s the completionist in me that they accounted for.īrawling depends on the ship. If you’re passing by a place you may want to complete it, but if not you don’t need to fear that the area will become under leveled as it will level up eventually and you can do it later if you don’t need your level stuff don’t do it. You really don’t have to finish every ‘spend 5 minutes looking for this powercore’ section of every map, it only gives you your level gear and maybe a blueprint/ship colour etc. When you want millisecond perfect time trials you need to make it dead clear where to go. I kept having to repeat it to learn where it wanted me to go next when the next circle was 90 degrees below me and there was no obvious arrow saying "go here now". The UI did a bad job at pointing me to the circles. Get me reasonably close and I'm happy to search but on a giant map covered in fog it's just frustrating.Īs an aside, I tried the racing challenge in Union and found it frustrating as well. For the Devs, if you want to make the puzzles more tolerable add a sound proximity system like you did for the cloaked chests. I've given up and my two friends on Discord that also tried the game also gave up for the same reason. I know I could just move on and still complete the game but ignoring the puzzles simply feels like ignoring half of the content. I looked on YouTube and found a video showing where the energy sphere generator was but because of the heavy fog and lack of landmarks I still couldn't find it.Īfter 10 minutes of frustration I gave up. But what killed me was trying to find stupid energy spheres in The Gauntlet in the Union system. I decided to give it another chance and was having fun for a bit even if the combat was a bit repetitive since I was fighting the same types of enemies over and over. From what I've read there is cooler raid type stuff later on but sadly I just can't put in the hours it's going to take to get there. I get it's a looter shooter, but I went in hoping for Diablo or Borderlands in space and got something closer to a puzzle game with occasional shooting. The story was okay but nothing to write home about and I gave up near the end of Union since I got sick of finding yet another power core or cloaked chest. Unfortunately it's not very fun just spamming at a distance. ![]() I tried plenty of weapons but long range rail gun and flak spam ended up being the only surefire way not to die since disengaging from close range is nearly impossible. However once you are fighting swarms of tough enemies, the winning move is not to brawl but instead to snipe since staying alive is the winning move. The bigger issue was the combat is fun and arcadey when you are fighting fairly equal enemies. I didn't play the first game but I don't remember reading about the constant searching for McGuffins to open chests, someone else can correct me if I'm wrong. The constant find the X to solve the puzzle got old, it simply wasted time without feeling satisfying when you did. I was looking forward to the game for years but 15 hours in I'm bored. ![]()
